I found a stolen pink women's bike when a local neighborhood homeless man passed out in front of my house, when authorities were called he bolted leaving the bike behind.  I would really like to find the owner.  On the NW side of Chicago

Do you have a picture?

Oh it's a long shot, but i lost my pink Nishiki to thieves last year, but hold out hope she'll turn back up.

Actually we suggested she post here. I claim the new member referral bonus.

Already posted on stolen bike registry.  I do not want to post a picture because I want to owner to identify it first.  Sorry it is not a Schwinn or a Nishiki.

Juli,

Good point.  Giving the brand (or at least what it isn't) helps those who were hoping you found their bike.

One thing many people do is require the owner to show proof of ownership.  Since few people still have their original sales receipt or bought it second hand,  usually some pictures of the person on or with the bike should do.  When I had my bike stolen I just brought a bunch of pictures of me on the bike.  Didn't need it in  the end, but that was my evidence.
