The Chainlink

This morning on my commute I saw that the window to Easy Rider bike shop on 4119 N. Lincoln was busted out, glass shards all over the sidewalk. The owner was inside sweeping up. Apparently a thief broke the window in the early hours of the morning but he triggered the alarm and before he could escape he got arrested.  Score one for the cops. I feel bad for the owner, but I'm glad the thief got caught.

Great news about the speedy arrest!

Anyone hear anything further about the shop at Damen and Clybourn that was cleaned out?

Yup, the one in the strip mall. I think it was last week-- someone supposedly disabled the alarm/camera system like on 24 and made off with a bunch of road bikes (tri-bikes maybe) with a rental truck.

Element Multisport? They're super nice. Crap, that stinks.

Actually, I see it was Running Away - on Clybourn near Webster. I'm sure they are nice, too, but I haven't been into this new-ish location. I guess we should all keep an eye out for fancy unused tri bikes for sale...

Oops, I was thinking of the wrong shop I guess. I pass that way less than once a year at this point in my life...

I have seen zero evidence that they're particularly concerned with getting the word out to the bike community to watch out for the bikes . . . until further evidence comes my way I'll have to conclude that they're not particularly concerned about finding them.
