The Chainlink

Hi,

Just wondering what the situation is like for any plus-sized and/or bottom heavy women. I am a US size 14-16 and I usually resort to wearing men's xxl/xl bibs or xxl/xl short from aero tech designs. While I have been ok with my cycling bottom situation in the past, as I am doing more and more mileage I am not as comfort as I think I should be. *TMI alert- lady parts getting numb. So does anyone have any recommendations and/or tips?

Keep on riding

I'm thinking it's not the shorts, but the saddle. Shape/platform, tilt or length. It may be that your issue has always been present, but as you're adding mileage it's now noticeable.

Feel free to PM me for more private conversation! :)

If anyone can help you, Anne can. She's got more experience in this stuff than many others combined!

I have Selle Italia's Diva seat with dramatically changed the way I rode before. So it is possible I have grown out of my seat? What places do you recommend for getting the correct fit for seats?

I have the same saddle (love it!) on my cannondale. For me, the fit made much more of a difference than the actual saddle. I ended up swap my stock saddle for the Selle Italia near Christmas last year because I was experiencing chafing that was getting much more serious and consistently problematic. (Debated minor surgery to correct it, actually. Glad I didn't have to resort to it!) When I went to switch out my saddle, I noticed my seat post was rotated slightly to the right. Maybe rotated by... 3mm? It wasn't much. I aligned it center and literally not one problem since! A lot of places do fittings around here. My only experience is (briefly) with the guys at Cycle Smithy. I've heard okay things about Roll on Clybourn too, via a coworker.

Thanks Julia! I will experiment with that.
