Sure thing! It looks like you could head East on Augusta to Damen; head North on Damen all the way to where it converges with Bryn Mawr; head east on Bryn Mawr until Ravenswood; head N on Ravenswood until Petersen. At Petersen, Ravenswood does a little boogaloo under the trestle and picks up just a little bit west (just to your left as you're standing looking north at Ravenswood and Petersen). From there, you should be able to take Ravenswood the rest of the way up to Devon.
Try this:

Humboldt
Palmer
Kedzie
Bryn Mawr
Mapelwood
Devon

...you can pick up a bike map at Active Transportation Alliance. We usually make them available at most bike shops, too. Find it online at http://www.cityofchicago.org/Transportation/bikemap/keymap.html

Click on the map to enarge certian areas and then click on the arrows around the border to scroll in different directions. Notice how Kedzie gets weird as you approach Devon.

Check the weather, too. Looked like rain earlier.

Happy pedaling!
thanks Jason. You are right - Damen is residential further north (I am visiting a friend and we rode this same trip together last Sunday. I just didn't know if there was a better one)

happy trails

Dunno any magic route, but Sacramento->Diversy->Damen (Damen dies on Bryn Mawr)->Bryn Mawr->Ravenswood->Devon ?
Humboldt north to Palmer
Palmer west to Kedzie
Kedzie north to Devon
Devon east to Damen

Major streets, but it's fast. If you've rode Western, I'd suspect you'd have no problem with it. I refuse to do Western myself, but dig Ashland at times. See the Who Dares to Ride Ashland thread.
I usually take California when I'm heading north, it takes a jog on Manor to cross the river. I avoid Kedzie, but so many folks recommended it maybe I've been to harsh about that. I agree Damen is very good.
I live in Humbolt park but used to live in Rogers park and still have friends up that way. I usually take California or Damen. ravenswood is good too. Follow Jason's advice and you will do well.
thanks everyone. The route was great; the date was a success, and I even stopped at the Baskin Robbins / Dunnkin Donuts at 12:15 for a yummy chocolate shake. No incidents whatsoever. Ravenswood Rocks !

happy weekend to all....ride well

Dan
Take damen north (it has a bike lane) and eventually over big bridge then cut east (right) on wellington to RAVENSWOOD north (left) and take a LOVELY long haul north....route thanks to my pal Andrew Bedno...bedno.com (some pub for him) You will love Ravenswood...it's real nice and quiet for the longest part of the ride...let me know how it goes.
Thanks all for your comments. I am always looking for new routes (been in the city 1 year and still have much to learn)...so I think I will just steal these suggestions from you helpful fellow cyclists.

Thank you.
