<p>I rode to Northerly Island last night for the first time since last year and the path on the lake side has completely collapsed in a couple of spots.</p>
<p></p>
<p>Does anyone know of the Parks department's plans about this? This would be a major reconstruction and would probably require an effective breakwater off the shore to prevent it from being washed out every few months.…</p>

<p>For those of you coming down the temporary Flyover ramp onto the existing path, beware of this trench. It's deeper than it looks, filled with water, and with the current configuration, cyclists traveling South will pass over it almost in parallel. I witnessed a man get taken down on his 28 tires last night. Don't get trenched!</p>

This morning, there was car debris all over both LFP lanes and a police car blocking one of the LFP lanes between Diversey and Belmont. There had been a serious wreck in which a car had gone off LSD, swiped a tree and went across both paths. The path had been damaged. I didn't see the wreck and the car had been moved to Belmont Harbor by the time I came across the site but I hope the driver and nobody on the path was seriously injured. There had been a serious wreck in which a car had gone off LSD, swiped a tree and went across both paths. The path had been damaged. I didn't see the wreck and the car had been moved to Belmont Harbor by the time I came across the site but I hope the driver and nobody on the path was seriously injured. Judging from the condition of the car, I would guess the driver wasn't so lucky. It did leave me thinking about all of the stretches of LSD without guardrails, though, as this wreck occurred in such a stretch. Given the amount of traffic on the LFP, doesn't it make sense to ensure that there is a protective barrier in almost all areas? Plans to Split LFP in Two: Bikers and Runners/Walkerstag:thechainlink.org,2016-03-19:2211490:Topic:9757302016-03-19T18:26:09.419ZYasmeenhttps://thechainlink.org/profile/YasmeenSchuller

<p><em>The widening, which would happen from about Fullerton Avenue to Ohio Street on the North Side and from 31st Street to 51st Street on the South Side, doesn't yet have a price tag. And officials were vague about how it would be paid for, other than out of the Chicago Park District's budget the next three years.</em></p>
<p><em>The trail, which becomes perilously packed with zooming riders, inline skaters and runners on summer weekends, wouldn't be separated at some of the most heavily used areas near downtown and the museum campus because there isn't room.</em></p>
<p><em>Emanuel will talk about the widening Tuesday during a speech on his second-term plans for parks. </em></p>

<p><span>I must admit, I have hoped for this for many years. While on my rollerblades (it was the 90s) I got hit from behind by a bike, I had a pretty nasty crash - nerve damage, bad scrapes, trip to the ER, etc. I think the path is pretty overcrowded in the downtown area and could use the separation in high-traffic areas.</span></p>

Hi! Sorry if this has already been posted as a community heads up:<br />
<br />
Marathon training for a lot of folks follows a plan leading up to a 20 miler training run usually 3-4 weeks before the big race. CES (Chicago endurance sports/fleet feet folks) are doing their big group run out of the Old Town store. CARA (Chicago area runners association) is doing it on Sunday starting round Montrose. I'm not certain on the CES, but CARA uses the LFP. For those who have never witnessed this, it can be a lot of…

Funny thing, I didn't see any happy reminders on the path today or yesterday like I did for other races/events. Did any of you? So training, commuting, Chi-lacing rides might be impacted. Sorry if everyone knows this and I didn't see it already posted somewhere. LFP S-Curve - Why is it slanted and why no wall?tag:thechainlink.org,2010-11-24:2211490:Topic:2640252010-11-24T22:38:17.101ZTank-Ridin' Ryanhttps://thechainlink.org/profile/Tank
A co-worker of mine went from Belmont to Ohio Street last night, and this morning we were talking about the S-curve and its oddities.<br/><br/>Perhaps someone can shed some light on this.<br/><br/>1. Why is the section of the lakefront path south of the S-curve on a noticeable slant? Drainage? Just to be annoying?<br/><br/>2. With the (straight) banked path there, why isn't there some sort of barrier to prevent falling into the lake? It's like RIGHT THERE. Unintentional swim anyone? <br/>
