Description

See birds in the hand AND in the bush! Welcome the birds that are migrating through Chicago from their winter homes in Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean. At this free event you will see colorful wild birds being tagged and released and visit with a live raptor. Learn to find birds using binoculars and a free app, enjoy birding crafts and snacks, and stroll though one of the city's newest natural areas. Visit with representatives from Chicago nature conservation organizations. Learn about how you can contribute to bird conservation at home.
 
Families, youth, and anyone who wants to spend a morning enjoying Chicago's rich bird life are welcome.
 
Come any time and stay as long as you like.
 
There is a Divvy station at 47th and Lake Park if you'd like to bike the lakefront trail. Easily accessible from the 2, 6, 15, 28 and 47 buses.
 
Sponsored by the Bird Conservation Network, the Chicago Park District, the Forest Preserves of Cook County, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Participants include the Field Museum, the Nature Conservancy, Wild Indigo Nature Explorations, Illinois Natural History Survey and YMCA - Let's Move! Outside
