Description

We will ride from Dunkin' Donuts to Links Hall at 3111 N. Western. We leave at 5 am sharp with our lights on. The show starts at 6am. I posted the following blurb at www.evanstonbikeclub.org Winter Solstice Percussion Concert - Remote: Dunkin' Donuts at Howard and Western~ Dave Barish Remote Start: Dunkin' Donuts at Howard and Western The ride will start at 5 am SHARP. We now have fingers on our gloves, tights, covering for our ears and lights for our commute. This can only mean that the Winter Solstice is around the corner. We will ride to the annual Winter Solstice Percussion Concert at Links Hall's new location, 3111 N. Western. The concert is 12/21/13 at 6 am. We will leave Howard and Western at 5 am sharp to make sure we are there in plenty of time to get decent seats for the show. Tickets can be purchased at linkshall.ticketfly.com/event/389789-23rd-annual-winter-solstice-chicago/ They are $22. Advance tickets are strongly recommended. This unique show is well worth the early morning departure. We will figure out whether to dine at our usual haunt, Ann Sather, or explore a new location.

Weather for tomorrow morning is really up in the air.  Pun intended.  I hope I don't lay awake all night obsessively checking the weather.

I have an extra ticket and will give it to the first person who replies in this thread. You have to ride to the show unless I cancel due to ice. Ice is bad now but it looks to be dry later so I am still hopeful.

I am with you on this one, Dave. Sending you an e-mail.

There is a chance that conditions will be icy on Saturday morning. I will ride in cold and would even ride in snow. I will not ride if its drizzling and around 30 or so degrees. If you get me your cell, I will text what I am doing around 4am. If the ride bails the concert still goes on.  Lets assume we will ride but see how things develop over the week.

This is the first year we have gone to this location. They moved from Wrigleyville. I called and was told there is one single inverted U.  I guess you will get it. We will daisy chain ourselves to you so a thief has to take 'em all. We can exchange cells so I can text you the size of our group. If you get in, you can see what seating is like. Its a new venue so we do not have the lay of the land.

I bought my ticket, but I am going to meet you there at 5:30.  What is the bike parking like?

Since this ride is earrrllly  in the morning on a Saturday, we can go straight down Western from the start to the show. That will get us there the earliest so we can scout out the best place to sit. If you wish to join us en route we will be coming down Western from 5 am to just past 530 am.  We will stop for a minute to pick up anybody waiting for us under the brown line tracks at Leland. We will not take Western on the way back north.
