Description

Bikes N' Roses, Oak Park Cycle Club, and Greenline Wheels invites allies and cyclists to join the beginning of BNR's 'Shift Gears' youth bike tour to Springfield in a Kick-Off Ride!

**When and where and how?

Registration for the event covers participation, a sweet Bikes N' Roses t-shirt, and refreshments. Click here to register.

The breakdown of the event is:

9:00am: Bikers register and enjoy refreshments @ BNR Shpo
9:15am: BNR press conference
9:45am: Kick Off! All cyclists begin biking to Greenline Wheels, with direction and assistance by experienced cyclists.
11:00am: Celebration and rest stop at Greenline Wheels. BNR Youth will stop for a brief water break and photo op before bidding adieu to allies and Kick Off riders.
11:30am and 12pm (tentative): For those who want to return to Albany Park after arriving at Greenline Wheels, experienced cyclists will guide folks back at these two times.

**Why are BNR youth biking to Springfield?

This year, the young people of BNR are biking to elevate the need for criminal justice reform and community justice reinvestment as part of parent organization Communities United’s statewide Reimagine Justice Illinois campaign.

A critical area of reinvestment is youth jobs in under-resourced communities, a key violence prevention strategy and a very important issue for our young people. BNR exemplifies what we can reinvest in--the power and resilience of our youth!

**I can't participate in the Kick-Off Ride... how else can I support the BNR youth in their awesome effort?

If you cannot join us for the ride, you can still support the BNR youth in their 210 mile effort by making a donation to help cover costs of the trip and to support the BNR youth program. Just click this link to donate.
