Evanston Car-Free Day "Pit Stop"

Car Free Day Pit Stop!

For the 2011 Chicagoland Car-Free Day, the Active Transportation Alliance is partnering with the City of Evanston, CTA, Metra, Pace, RTA and communities around the region to shine a spotlight on ways of getting around without driving.

All residents and commuters are invited to stop by the Evanston Car-Free Pit Stop event at the 909 Davis Building (by the Davis St. L and Metra stops) from 6-9 a.m. on Chicagoland Car-Free Day, Thursday, September 22, 2011. The event will be full of surprises including appearances by local officials, free food and drinks, free bike check-ups, an extra bike parking corral, raffles and more!

Participating Vendors

The following vendors will have booths at 909 Davis:

• City of Evanston - The City of Evanston will be distributing the new bike parking maps as well as the Goody Bags that have been generously donated by Whole Foods!
• Active Transportation Alliance - The ATA will be present answering any questions and concerns about making your life more car-free.
• The Recyclery Collective - Be sure to visit the Recyclery Collective's booth for tips on bike maintenance and commuting as well as their restoration program of donated and discarded bikes!
• White Iris Yoga Therapy - White Iris Yoga Therapy will have an area set aside with yoga mats to provide stretching instruction to help make active transportation a less taxing experience on your body!
• Downtown Evanston - Downtown Evanston will be giving participants a chance to win prizes through their Spin to Win wheel! Also be sure to sign up for their newsletter to get current information about deals and events all around Evanston.
• Metra, PACE, and CTA - Visit these booths for information on the public transportation options availble for traveling in and out of Evanston!
• Turin Bicycle - Turin will be present to give information about all the services they provide to cyclists.

Everyone is invited to take the Chicagoland Car-Free Day Pledge, even if you were already planning to walk, bike or take public transit on Car-Free Day.
