The 52nd Annual Englewood Back to School Parade will be held August 23, 2014 at 10am. The procession will begin at 57th & Halsted and travel south to Marquette Road, turn west on Marquette Road to Throop Street, and proceed to travel north on Throop Street ending at Ogden Park located at 6500 S Racine Avenue. The parade will feature food, floats, music, and free book bags and school supplies for returning students. Admission and light refreshments for the parade are free.

The Englewood Back to School Parade was formed in 1963 by Willie Pittman to galvanize hope and to encourage the youth to stay in school and pursue education, thus developing the theme, “Education Is the Key to the Future.” This event has always been a jewel in the community which promoted a day of peace as well as pride. Peace All,

Good day and trust all is well for everyone.

A kind reminder of tomorrow's ride in the Englewood Back to School Parade. We will gather PROMPTLY at 10am at the intersection of 57th & Halsted.

There was some talk of a group potentially meeting at 9am at Daley Plaza tomorrow morning and riding together to 57th & Halsted. In the event anyone is interested in riding in the parade and/or meeting up at Daley Plaza, please let me know.

Let's all plan to wear a white shirt/top/jacket. This will allow us to stand out as a large, cohesive cycling group. Feel free to invite family, friends, and more Chicago cyclists to join us for the ride as we spread peace and love in Englewood.

You can contact me at 773-916-6264 with any questions. See you all tomorrow morning.

Let's ride...

Hey Kathy - Glad to hear you may ride with us. I can't make the 9am time at Daley Plaza. Going first thing in the AM to help set up at Ogden Park where the parade will end. Looks like there are a few folks that are riding with us that may be able to connect up with you and yall ride together to Englewood. Let me know if this looks like it will work out and how I can help on this. By the way, I can put the word out to CCM that a group is meeting at Daley Plaza at 9am and riding South to meet us at the Parade. How does this sound??? Thanks and see you soon...

I would go if there is a ride to this event starting somewhere in the Loop or on the north side.  How about meeting at Daley Plaza at 9AM?
