Starts in Daley Plaza (50 W Washington, under the Picasso) after noon, then a social ride reaching McCormick Place (2301 S King Dr) by 1pm. There let's spread joy and inspiration about low-car living with costumes, cheers, conversations, free advice and demos. We'll be flyering for the next Saturday's Cycle Swap in Pulaski Park where consumers can trade up from cars to bikes. Promises photos and fun, and warm drinx somewhere after 3pm. Latecomers text ? to for updates.

Me and Jera, Steven and Ben, Todd and Gin were the 2011 Autoshow Shutdown squad.

I'm happy.  This weather's challenging, and we probably lost some pals to recovery from the FBC and MM rides Fri/Sat.

The flyering was fun and effective (, and synergy with the Cycle Swap perfect (  I'm also happy with the slogans collection:

Here's a photo of Jera cheering in the pedway ("Half the wheels, twice the fun!")

This event is now also on Facebook:

Also see the slogans thread.

And I've pulled the start time an hour earlier if that's OK with everyone.  Wouldn't give enough time for a ride there from Delay Plaza otherwise.

Is there a reason the web site doesn't seem to be updated?

So far the plan for feb 20 is that folks will go on a bike ride ending  at the  Auto Show, where we will spread good cheer and inspiration about car-free and car-light living via costumes, cheerleading and invitations to trade in a car for a bike. (Many thanks to Alex at West Town for volunteering to make sure we have bikes for anyone who takes the challenge). We will also be flyering for the Cycle Swap the following weekend, with a focus on promoting workshops that can help people drive less and bike more.

What we need now:

1) Please RSVP for the event at Chainlink. The more people who RSVP, the more likely that others will want to come.  Our goal is at least 50 riders. We have had big turn outs in the past--let's get back into the saddle! Please help spread the word.
2) If you can help with route planning, flyer making, communications, press releases, signs, costumes, overall whimsy, please contact Andrew at andrew at bedno dot com.
3) Plan to attend BTG's next social hour (we still need a new name!) on Wed. Feb 16, 7pm Quenchers, for last minute planning.

Thanks and stay warm!
