Pierogi Fest Announces A Record Number of Food Vendors

WHITING | If you are hungry, then the perfect place to visit is the
upcoming Pierogi Fest in Whiting, Indiana which will feature a record 72 (that is seventy-two, not nine or five) food vendors this year,
including 19 Pierogi vendors. The total number has eclipsed the Taste of Chicago (which in 2012 will feature 42 vendors) for the third straight year in offering the most food vendors of any food festival in the Midwest.

We offer every food imaginable,” noted Sarah Hildebranski, Executive Director of the Whiting-Robertsdale Chamber of Commerce. “We also

feature five performance stages, and the most ridiculous and off the
wall parade in perhaps the Nation.” The annual Pierogi Fest Parade
will be held on Friday, July 27 at 7 PM.

The festival offers pierogis that have been deep fried, boiled, fried
and baked, stuffed with everything from cheese to meat to even
alligator. Food vendors come from: Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan,
Minnesota, and Florida, as well as Indiana, Illinois and the
Chicago-Northwest Indiana area. In addition to great food, the
festival features almost 100 arts and crafts booths, and approximately 25 specialty vendors which will be organized in a new area, aptly known as the Tchotchke Mall.

Pierogi Fest will be held on July 27, 28 and 29, and draws more than
250,000 visitors. It has been named by Oprah Winfrey as one of her
favorite things to do; annual winner of the Times of Northwest
Indiana’s Best Festival; featured on The Food Channel, Travel Channel, television stations throughout the United States, and television stations in Germany, Slovakia, Poland China and Australia. It is also the only festival in Northwest Indiana to host two live television broadcasts by network-owned stations.

For more information regarding the festival, contact the Whiting-Robertsdale Chamber of Commerce at 219-659-0292.
