Description

Remember, Remember!

The fifth of November,

The Gunpowder treason and plot;

I know of no reason

Why the Gunpowder treason

Should ever be forgot!

Stops Including

(in this order):

The Aberdeen Tap

440 N. Aberdeen

(meet here around noon and leave by 1:30pm SHARP)

The Bucktown Pub

1658 N. Cortland

The Beer Bistro

1061 West Madison

Simone's Bar

960 W 18th

Bubbly Dynamics

1048 W 37th St

(Burn, Baby, Burn after Sundown!)

It's guaranteed to be a most wonderful occasion but a crisp yet warm day is predicted so prepare accordingly. Also some other tips to make this bummel ever-so enjoyable:

  • We have a goodly number of stops and a short day. We suggest bringing cash. Your transactions will be shorter at the bar.
  • Several establishments serve victuals as well as refreshments and it will be a LONG night. Do take advantage.
  • While we will providing a suitably visaged Guy Fawkes and the materials to immolate him, this is a BYOB bonfire. We suggest you prepare accordingly when we roll by several take-away libatory establishments in the Bridgeport area.
  • Finally ... gents why do some of you come on your CX bike, clad as lycra-louts? Please remember to match the ladies in their sartorial finery. Either a classic stead or wooly threads will do. Both would be exceptional indeed!

Ahhhh ... Kevin C's fair warning does take me back to the infamous Ten Cat Debacle of a particularly slow-paced yet rambunctious Cozy Hearth Tweed Ride.

But rest assured my pretties, at our solicitous request, all establishments at which we are stoping have removed all locks from the doors of the relevant Water Closets!

And to those who might wish to meet us "ênroutè", as the Frenchies say, please do enjoy your refreshment(s) in a leisurely fashion as you await us!

Kevin C and this brave look into the future had inspired me!
Throwing caution to the wind, with hopes of wind at my back I'll be there - somewhere! :) either Simmones or one stop sooner.

Armed with this (incredibly unreliable) timetable, looks like I should be able to catch you at Simone's!

For folks such as Kevin C who can't start out with us (and against all odds), we hope to be at the stops at (APPROXIMATELY) the following times:

Aberdeen Tap (West Loop): Noon to 1:30pm

Bucktown Pub (Bucktown): 2:00pm - 3:30pm

Beer Bistro (West Loop): 4:30 - 5:30

Simones (Pilsen): 6:30pm - 7:30

Bubbly Dynamics (Bridgeport): 8:30ish

This is also a good guide if (at the HIGHLY unlikely possibility) you separated from the ride. Just head to the next stop!

I'm gonna be late, but I'm gonna be there by the time the Guy immolates!

Anyone want to ride (either bikes on train or just bikes) to the Aberdeen from Ravenswood/Lincoln Square/North Center area? It's a haul (and I want to save energy), so I'm lazily thinking CTA... anyway, let me know!

@Kevin C: If memory serves, I think the 39th is dust mop. Which is used to sweep up bits of failed CF.;)
