Description

The fourth annual Rando de Taco: bigger and better than ever!

This is a very unofficial randonneur-type of bicycle riding event. 100km with four mandatory taco shop checkpoints (or 40k with three). This is not a race. Average pace must be 17-29km/hr. Points will be awarded for any of the following: steel bikes, single speeds, mustaches, wheelies, tequila shots, etc. Points don't mean anything, though. The course will be mainly crushed limestone and pavement bike paths and city streets. Starts and ends from Pedal & Spoke, Ltd. bike shop in North Aurora, IL with an "unofficial 5th (or 4th) stop" afterparty at Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora (just a few miles away).

Registration includes: access to this event, tacos at 4 (or 3) checkpoints, a beer and raffle ticket at the afterparty.

Event t-shirts will be available for pre-order (specify your size when checking out).

Other merch will be available the day of the event, so please bring cash.

Day-of registration will be extremely limited (because I'm pre-buying all the food this year) so please help me out by registering early!

Keep in touch on the Facebook event page for information about the route, parking, and the such.

*Conversions and definitions for uncultured Americans:
100km = 62 miles
40km = 25 miles
17km/hr = 11mph
29km/hr = 18mph
"Randonneur-type of bicycle riding event": "a long-distance cycling sport with its origins in audax cycling. In randonneuring, riders attempt courses, passing through predetermined "controls" (checkpoints) every few tens of kilometers. Riders aim to complete the course within specified time limits, and receive equal recognition regardless of their finishing order. Riders are expected to be self-sufficient between controls."
