The Chainlink

Riding home this evening was nuts with that storm and traffic.

To others yet to depart:

Marshfield under the Bloomingdale Trail is flooded to the point that 2 cars did u-turns rather than attempt to drive under. I took the sidewalk slowly which still had about 8 inches of standing water.

California under the Kennedy has at least a foot of standing water and cars were barely getting through. It's passable on the sidewalk.

Get home safe!

It was nuts but I wouldn't rather have done it anyway else, I love biking. I was prepared and got home as fast as anyone. I am worried about the flooding though and possible ramifications for people. And times like this probably put a lot of wear and tear on a bike. But that's a price I'm willing to pay.

Madison and i want to say Ashland northwest side of the intersection had a huge deep lake taking up about one and a half to two lanes worth. But there were a lot of little ponds and streams everywhere.
Noah, NOAH !? I'm ready to leave now. Where are you?! Where's that ark?

Ashland and Cortland has a couple feet of water. I ended up portaging my bike across there. Elston just north of North Avenue is flooded, but the sidewalk is higher up so you can use that to avoid the flooding. The Bloomingdale Trail is relatively clear and empty. It was a good time to ride up there.

Really fun commute home today. I'm pretty sure I avoided submerging any bearings. I hope so, at least.

Getting home just as the tornado siren sounded was quite special.

It started wailing in the Loop when I was midway through my soggy slog to the train. Very special.

This morning, LFP was clear from the Edgewater until North avenue. I don't know how it was south of that.

Clark from North avenue to the loop was clear as well.

Other than some puddles in the usual places where there's runoff across the trail (around Bryn Mawr) or standing water (North Ave) the lake front was dry to downtown. With a nice tail wind it was a very pleasant morning.

The LFP is clear to Hyde park except for a few puddles.

Clybourn was clear this morning from end to end if anyone is looking for an alternate route to Elston. There was only a small puddle under the Metra tracks on Clybourn while that usually gets pretty deep under those same tracks on Elston.
