Tour Bus Company pays $6.75 million for death of pedestrian

This is not directly related to cycling. But it sets a valuable precedent and resulted in a significant pay-out by the company. I'm thinking this should help instill greater scrutiny when companies hire drivers whose actions can harm pedestrians and/or cyclists, let alone other drivers.

I had not heard of this one.  Although I don't fully understand the impetus to ban convicted sex offenders from operating such vehicles (shouldn't that already be covered under some broader restriction?) and how it relates to this case, I am glad to see that we seem to be moving away from a culture that considers injuries or death inflicted by motor vehicle operators to be "accidents" by default.

Probably a very different outcome if there had not been video.
