I live only three blocks away from this station and I have mixed feeling about this.
On one hand, this is under EL overpass, dark, unattended, no security camera, and quite secluded. I also don't think that this is a high-trafficked area by cyclists going to take the Red Line from here.
On the other, I think it is nice to have. Especially the two bike Fixtations available there with pumps and tools.

I guess it's the same thought that went into the idea of having that many bike racks in that location, whatever that maybe.
Like I said, this is not a normally frequented Red Line stop by bicyclist. Anyone from the west wanting to take the Red Line would fare better traveling west on Granville than say, Peterson. Granville also is closer to Loyola and a lot of the students live in that neighborhood.

Granville's my train station but I didn't know they'd built that at Thorndale. If only there was a repair station along the lake, say around Belmont, Diversey or Fullerton.

Because Chicago is on the brink of bike commute mode share soaring to levels rivalling Amsterdam, and one stand won't suffice? That's my theory.
