GEORGE! STOP SHOUTING! It's right there on the events calendar.

It is the BEST event!
An Amling's Bicycle tradition in Niles.
Not to be missed!
Details on Amling's website also
:)

Anyone doing it this year? It's on 12/13 - looks like a hoot!

It is a lot of fun.  I am registered.

Niles police escort to the city limits and then Chicago Police take over.  Lots of horn honking and waving from people in cars and folks saying thank you, even though they have been stopped for a fairly long line of bicycles.

Breakfast at Mystic Celt was really good, and quite welcome after having started out at about 5:30 in the morning to get out to Amlings.  No, I did not bike.  I made my husband get up and take me so I could then just ride home from Mystic Celt. :-)

Last year was relatively mild and no snow. With the crazy weather so far, who knows what December 13 might bring.

i have done it about four times off and on. it really is a festive ride/parade! i guess they are short on trailers this year, so if anyone has a burleyesque trailer that they could borrow,,,,drop them a line at site             .

I'm signed up! How long has it run in past years?

Trying to plan for the rest of the day...

I don't remember exactly, but I know I was home before noon. I rode home from Mystic Celt to Wicker Park, so not very far.

The ride leaves Amlings Cyclery in Niles at 630 am and goes and a somewhat glacial pace to Mystic Celt. This is less than 10 miles and takes about an hour.  By 830-845 the eating and talking are done and its time to resume your day. If you drove to Amlings you have to ride back. Otherwise, you start your day from Mystic Celt whether that's going to work, going home or finding the next  place for a Guiness. Its a blast and well worth doing. I cannot ride this year as I have to be in the burbs in a tie by 9 am. I will help Joe in the shop and then get in a car heading west when everybody else is heading into the city on their bikes. Don't forget to bring at least one unwrapped toy.

I did it last year and it was super fun!

I signed up to do it but now besides either A) riding there from the loop or B) taking blue line to jefferson park then riding from there does anybody else know a better way of getting there?

I missed last yr due to my knee, but I plan on going this year again. I usually bring my own trailer

Take the Milwaukee District North Metra to Morton Grove. Probably your fastest option.
