The Chainlink

I mostly think of the Chainlink forms as being populated by Chicago cyclists, but every once and a while someone posts something about conditions in another area. I'm not trying to out anyone as an outsider, I'm just curious what the Chainlink's geographic reach is.

Well I travel a lot to East Lansing, MI and ride there. Also I moved from Puerto Rico to Chicago 1.5 years ago, and I am planning on going back, but I'm sure I'll keep stalking the Chainlink for very useful info.

There are 21 members per page under the All Members tab. Sort by "newest" and Page 1 has a member from New Orleans, Louisiana, Welland, Ontario, Melbourne, Australia, and St. Charles, Missouri. Only 312 more pages to go through...

I am still listed as Chicago on the pages Kevin, but I have recently moved to Northwest Ohio.  Oh, how I miss Chicago and miss commuting by bike!  Do you realize how expensive gasoline is???  I will continue to stalk Chainlink for the useful info and support. :)

I met Mark last week when he was visiting our fine city for a conference.  He lives in rural Michigan.

That is me! I live in Muskegon Michigan. Why the Chainlink you ask? Here I am the only commuter I see each day. I so much enjoy reading about others riding. I have gotten every useful information from this site. As we speak my bike is in the shop getting Marathon Plus tires based on information from this site. And I also enjoy riding in Chicago. Each year we do Bike The Drive, a few Critical Mass's, and just riding. Igot in 36 miles last weekend in Chicago. Love the site and the city.

I didn't know you moved, Michelle. [witness protection program?]

lol on witness protection program, Kevin.  It all happened pretty quick.  I am going to casino dealer school for a casino that is opening up in Toledo, OH.  My grandchildren live in the area so that was the biggest pull.  That, and being offered the opportunity!

With tomorrow's weather forecast I will be riding to school.  NO ONE here is used to seeing people on bikes so I will be especially careful in the am since it is still dark.  (I have been told that the only people that use bikes are ones who have lost their license because of DUI's!)  And I must remember to take my cable lock since there are NO bike racks at the community college I am attending.

It's beautiful up by you. My parents have a lake-house in Olive Township/Holland ; it's absolutely stunning in the spring/fall.

I loved Muskegon State Park. Made it there from Grand Rapids last summer. What a beautiful ride.

Well im originally from chicago Born and raised, but i recently relocated to South Florida and let me tell you the scene is not the same at all totally different... even critical mass doesnt even reach our levels.... Chi Town rider!

I live just 4 miles from Muskegon State Park. It is a very nice ride. I do enjoy riding by lakes and rivers. That is something we have in common.

One of the most awesome sites I have ever seen on a ride was after Critical Mass it ended on LFP, and coming around Shed, the city just glimmered. It was breathtaking.

We try to post and connect with suburban/N. West Indiana/Mich/WI folks whenever possible. The Chainlink is such a great resource. We wish there was more suburban and nearby CL action.

Our suburban coordinators are all over the place:

Also good to know people from outside the area are using CL.
