Casey-rolled again!

I came across this video earlier trying to research a printer problem:

(payoff after about 1/2 minute . . .)

Nice.
His tool isn't long enough...

(payoff after about 15 seconds . . .)

Uh . . . the good part comes a bit after that.

Lady Gaga's bike!

This video illustrates exactly why i am NOT in favour of bike lanes, especially "protected" ones...  the Powers-That-Be can eventually require you to use them under penalty of law. If your route takes you off an approved bike route, you're looked upon as a scofflaw.

New York sneezes and Chicago catches cold?

I have to agree that it is an issue and there is a danger that we will be religated to our own special sidewalk and lose our rights to use the whole road.

It is just that they seem to have their uses in some locations and after seeing how handy they can be on Kedzie I would advise that we not throw the baby out with the bathwater when concerns such as this are raised.

Protected lanes are a BIG STICK and should be wielded very carefully.  The issue here, I feel, is that the bicycle community is NOT in the driver's seat right now with Daley II's new inaugural streets campaign.  Right now it seems to be going well for us but if/when it runs into the wall it'll be US that get blamed for it although it won't be us who put the plan into the ditch.
