I hope more information comes out. I bike by this area almost every day.

Hoping that the cyclist recovers.
2600 is intersection Lincoln ,Wrightwood and Sheffield that place can be a mess.I hope for the best, prays are with them.
I bike Lincoln very day on my commute. The intersection mentioned is a confusing mess and I have witnessed a lot of cyclists blow through the light there almost every day. I am sad to say this, but I think it was just a matter of time before someone got nailed. I am not putting the blame on anyone as there are no facts listed in that article on what happened; I am just putting forth my observations. Part of the problem is that many times it looks safe to go through the light there, but someone ends up turning onto one of the other cross streets and usually into your path as you are riding (kind of why I hate Lincoln, although it is the most convenient route for me to get to work- there are a lot of 3 way intersections that just freak me out sometimes).
Yup, had a close call there myself.
My cycling friend was hit at the intersection of Wrightwood & Sheffield just 5 days ago, and I wrote about it on Chainlink here.

My friend was not at fault, as she was going straight through the intersection when a black SUV with a cell-phone talking driver decided to try making a left turn in front of her.
I don't think that link is working.

I just corrected it.

Tomas,

Comments on news sites when the stories concern accidents are usually made by people who come across as at least borderline sociopaths.

The word you're looking for to describe this human is ignorant.... to say the least.

I know the circumstances, I'll bet my left nut this bicyclist disregarded every traffic sign, signal and traffic law on the books !!! I see these idiots every day blatantly going through stop signs, red lights driving on sidewalks going down oneway streets the wrong way weaving in and out of traffic and when you almost kill them because they're not following the traffic laws they look at you like you're the a$$holz !!!
I'm surprised more of them aren't splattered all over the city ,and we have our piece of s--t mayor to thank for letting these "bicyclist" use the left turn lane in traffic, so instead of crossing from corner to corner and then proceeding left now they zip in between cars and go in front of the first car in the turning lane and then usually jump the red light and make the left turn just barely making it before getting struck by a car. And don't even get me started about these critical mass a$$holz shutting down streets obstructing traffic with their "we own the streets rides" and their cross town races where they race across the city and some of these idiots even take their brakes off their bikes and when they get killed they want to charge the poor guy who hit them with homicide because he was driving an suv. These tree hugging anarchist liberal nut jobs have ruined this city and I'm glad I put my papers in to retire from this corrupt cesspool I'm outta here moving to Arizona where the government has some balls.

As far as the comment goes at least, there appears to be a happy ending.

yeah that is a busy intersection for sure. It's important to always wait for green. And even that doesn't ensure our safety entirely. For the record, three way stops work counter-clockwise if it helps anyone to know. I like it because I know where traffic should be coming from at all times.
