Study Comparing Commuting Options With Regards to Air Pollution

"You can greatly reduce air pollution while biking by riding a block off of a busy road."
This is a study in the Bay Area but some of the information still applies. We should do this study for Chicago as well - comparing our transportation options e.g. El, bus, bike, etc. Also, comparing LFP to Clark Street. Sounds like LFP is a better choice to reduce exposure to air pollution.

I'm not  surprised by the winner in this comparison.

CTA's change from diesel to hybrid and all-electric buses is making a noticeable difference. Those of you who were bike commuting 15-20 years ago when they were all diesels (and many ran very dirty) could tell stories about getting a "diesel breakfast" - a blast of dirty exhaust from a bus accelerating ahead of us.

I'd be curious to see a study on how the increase in the percentage of hybrid, electric and natural gas-powered vehicles has affected air pollution in our cities.
