Recommendation for a local shop that can replace a top tube on my Surly LHT?

Some jerk messed up the top tube of my LHT. Does anyone have recommendations for a local shop that can replace the top tube?
Thanks in advance.

Jessie at Comrade Cycles welded a crack in my frame several years ago and it is going strong.

Thanks for tip. I did go over there after work and talked to Jessie. It will require replacement of the top tube. Which would lead to a new paint job. At that point I'm in new frame territory.

It's a bummer. I've had the LHT for nearly 10 years. And always enjoyed riding it. Maybe it's time to say farewell ito my dear friend.

Maybe some frame blocks? They should be able to help unless it's cracked or bent beyond repair...

I had not seen that before. But the top tube is nearly crushed in half.

Owen at Blue City Cycles did a masterful job brazing the brake bosses for my Bridgestone tourer.  I would recommend his services highly.  He might tell you to paint the top tube some type of "complimentary" color to match your color scheme rather than going for an exact match.  I think it looks great and he was able to save 99% of the original paint.

I've clamped blocks on a dented frame without rolling, and it got *most* of the dent out, with the paint still intact.  My top tube fell against a blunt (not sharp) object, so it was dented (large) but not crushed or creased.  It still has a noticeable dent (3mm deep?), but I've just decided that it adds character.  It certainly has no effect on the ride, and on the positive side, may make the frame a bit less interesting to thieves.

Blocks only cost about $15, so it might be worth a try.

Frank — So sorry to hear this.  My condolences on the LHT but I cant imagine its economically feasible to repair and repaint a ~ $479 TIG-welded frame.  Of course, anything can be repaired at a price if its worth it to you.  If not, you might also consider a Soma Saga.

The Saga is on my shortlist. It would solve the main negative on the LHT: lack of a kickstand plate. Other frames on my shortlist: V-O Campeur, V-O Pass Hunter, Soma Double Cross and Surly Cross Check. The last 3 have no kickstand, but look otherwise what I am looking for.

Did I miss anything?

Black Mountain Monster Cross V5?  Perhaps a bit lighter and livelier than the others listed here.  Horizontal dropouts offer more flexibility but less convenient with fenders.  Also lacks a kickstand plate.  :-)

The Atlantis is well-loved by many, but the frame/fork/headset is 4-5x the price of the Surly or Soma at $2300.  You can get a nice custom frame at that point, too.

Well....Marinoni in Quebec will make a custom Columbus Zona steel frame for you for about $1000 less.  It's $1200 less for a stock frame.  I never bought one because I knew how sad and upset I would be if it was damaged or stolen.  Still it's a much better deal than Rivendell and other premium brands perhaps because of the exchange rate from Canada.  Marinoni has been making custom Columbus tubing bikes since the 1970's.

Beautiful.  Raleigh Alyeska.  Only $300 if you have a weekend to go to Ann Arbor to pick it up.
