Description

To reward their most devoted fans, Three Floyds is offering a special free pre-release pint of 2013 Dark Lord from 11:30 to noon to those who bike there.

  • Not! Because you all know what April 1 is, right? :-)

We'll take the lakefront trail south from Daley Plaza. If you don't want to start from there, you can join up anywhere along the lakefront trail. Just let me know where so we can look for you.

What's Dark Lord? A gargantuan Russian imperial stout with a reverse cascading head that billows the color of burnt oil, like the Dark Lord rising from his black primordial beginnings. Its resonant vinous aroma is of cherries, sweet malt, molasses, burnt currants, and plums with a port wine undertow. Mochachino notes are buried within. It has the consistency of hellishly yet divinely smooth motor oil. The first sip coats your palate with a thick charred-fruit-and-chocolate blanket. Alcohol burn then wiggles its way down your throat.

40 miles if you take the Metra back, 60 if you ride both ways. 12-14 mph.

You'll be hitting promontory point about 9 am or so? I'd like to join up there.

Too bad it's going to be cold and I'm broke otherwise.

You should have a nice tail wind heading South East though.

Cheers.

truth be told: it's only the 5th best imperial stout in the world

Don't know since I never had it. But it sure has a reputation. We'll find out on Monday.

OK, and truth be told: The seats were in the fourth row, not the front row.

You sold front row tickets for Nick Cave in order to get a taste of this beer?  It's that good, is it?

and for free! talk about supporting biking!  :-)

Sold my tickets on StubHub this morning, got ahold of my boss to request the day off.

Looking forward to finally taste some Dark Lord!

Having missed out on the tickets for the official release party, I plan on going. I might even forgo my front row tickets to Nick Cave. Anybody interested in those tickets?
