Description

Early morning ride on some of the paved back roads from Plainfield to the far side of Yorkville.  The roads are reasonably quiet, but we do have several stretches on some more crowded roads (IL 126 .3 miles).  You should be comfortable riding in a single file line near the edge of the road as the shoulders are gravel.  The roads are paved so any type of bike will do, but we plan on averaging 14-16 miles per hour over the total length of the ride with sections in the 19-22 mph area.  If you don't feel you can maintain this pace, please bring a copy of the map to find your way back to the start.

Directions:  Please note the Google Map is wrong. The junior high is west of Stewart Road (also called Ridge Road). you will turn right (west) if coming south from 127th st. The turn is right before the bike bridge that crosses over Stewart.   The junior high is next to Grande Park Elementary, 26933 Grande Park Blvd. Plainfield, IL 60585. This address comes up correctly on Google maps.

We are meeting at 8:00 am and plan to push off by 8:15 am (end time is not true in this posting), so get there in time to unload your bike and greet everyone.  Please check your bike to make sure it is good working condition and the tires are inflated.  A helmet and signed waiver are required by this meetup to ride with the group.  It is expected to be hot, so please bring plenty of water.  We are riding with the Naperville Hiking, Biking and Outdoor Enthusiasts meetup.

I am including two links; one to a map of the ride and a second to turn by turn directions.  If you bring these out to the ride, I will explain the section we are riding.  We will join the course at the 10 mile turnaround (corner of Gilmore and 127th St. Firehouse).  We will be riding the route then to the 55 mile turnaround (Fox Road west of High Point Silver Springs rest stop).  We will not be doing the section heading north from Grove and Collins which will account for the 4 miles less to keep us at 40 miles.
