Description

Join us for this hands on photography lesson as we cycle through Oak Park Chicago to photograph the various historical landmarks and architectural creations of Frank Lloyd Wright and others. We will stop for lunch in Oak Park then proceed onward to Thatcher Woods (River Forest) for the nature portion of this photography lesson. This hands on photography lesson will provide you with all the techniques and tips you need to take stunning photos with your smart phone's built in camera. (Any smart phone or camera can be used for this lesson)

Cost: $20 (Includes photography lesson)

8:30am - Meet at Daley Center under the Picasso, arrive early to have your bike checked, tires filled, and take photos of Leonard Carey Williams of The Wheelmen

9:00am - Announcements and Safe Cycling Instructions

9:15am - Bike to Oak Park

10:30am - Arrive in Oak Park to visit the first two architectural sites (Photo Lesson)

11:00am - Arrive at the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio (Official rest stop and Photo Lesson)

11:30am - Visit several other architectural sites in Oak Park (Photo Lesson)

12:30pm - Lunch break at the BeerShop or one of the many other surrounding resturants.

1:45pm - Bike to Thatcher Woods (Also a rest stop)

2:00pm - Enjoy bluegrass jam and nature at the Thatcher Woods Trailside Museum of Natural History (Photo Lesson)

4:00pm - Bike back downtown, we will also stop for one more additional surprise architectural photo opportunity at an undisclosed location.

5:00pm - Arrive at Daley Plaza

The 1893 World's Fair ticket booth is just one of the many points of interests we will search for in Oak Park. It was originally purchased after the Worlds Fair as a kids playhouse then later restored and is located in the yard of the The Hills-DeCaro House.

I found an interesting episode of Hidden Chicago that outlines how many artifacts of the Worlds Fair have been repurposed and scattered around the city. Adventure Cycling Point and Shoot Tour Update! Arrive early between 8:00am and 8:45am to have an opportunity take a photo of this this beautiful bicyle fitted with a time period correct camera! The original GoPro!
