Description

Come join CBES on an Autumn ride along the Des Plaines River Trail!

We'll meet at Norwood Park (northwest corner by Natoma and Avondale) for an 8:00 AM departure.

It's a few miles to the Des Plaines River Trail which we'll take north to Tighthead Brewing in Mundelein, with a brief rest stop at the River Trail Nature Center along the way. Tighthead does not serve food but there are a few places in the mile before where we can take lunch to go.

After lunch and refreshments we'll head east on the North Shore bike path to Lake Bluff Brewing

Distance: 45 miles

Minimum avg speed: 12 mph

Link to Route

Be aware that the Des Plaines River Trail is not paved. The surface ranges from hard packed dirt/mud to smooth crushed limestone. It can get pretty sloppy if it's wet and there is potential for some underpasses to be closed. Please make sure you and your bike can handle the trail, speed, and distance as well as any minor mechanical issues or flats. And last but not least, portions of this ride are on public roads with traffic so consume responsibly. You are responsible for you.

Bring: Bungee for Metra, Water, Snacks, Lock, Lights, and a Spare Tube

Metra options home
Libertyville: 1:10, 3:10, or 5:10

Lake Bluff: 2:21, 4:21, 5:20 or 7:21

Hope you feel better, Marcus. If you're up for it meet us at Lake Bluff for some hoppy remedy!

See you at Tighthead, Chris.

Crap. Not feeling 100% this weekend, so I'm not going to be joining the ride tomorrow afterall. You'll all have a good time without me I'm sure. Cheers.

Cool.I still have your number Marcus so I can text with location updates. If I recall correctly that extension was finished last year and was quite nice to not have to ride on Milwaukee.

I'll meet up with the group on my way south on the DPRT. Hopefully I'll see you all around Lake Cook or so.

Rich, that bump over onto Milwaukee Rd in Lincolnshire is no longer needed. The Lake County Forest Preserve purchase the land needed, and now the trail is continuous from Lake Cook to Wisconsin.
