Driver Attacks Cyclist in Chicago After Driving in Bike Lane

This happened on the Madison Street bike land and luckily, the incident was captured by the cyclist's Go-Pro. Looks like they have the license plate and the driver.

Only on days when I feel suicidal do I tap on body panels and tell drivers they are in the bike lane.

I agree that it's not a good idea to touch a person's car since it generally just escalates/inflames the situation, but the video doesn't show the cyclist doing that from what I saw. The cyclist just verbally called the guy out for parking in the lane. Pretty crazy reaction considering (not that punching or kicking would be warranted even if the cyclist touched the car).

I sincerely hope not and I hope that the driver is found and prosecuted, otherwise what's to stop other drivers from doing the same, or worse, in the future???? To chase down a cyclist who calmly stated a fact is outrageous. That the driver went beyond that is, frankly, terrifying to me.

My expectations are low that cops will even bother to file for a warrant for this person's arrest. From what I understand no one is still looking for this guy.

In this day and age, where everyone and his/her brother and uncle seems to have a gun, it might be better to ignore him. Fortunately, no guns involved, but still a less than favorable outcome for the cyclist.

A while back an enraged driver of an SUV honked at me from behind on a small side street. I was just trying to wave him on so he can pull ahead of me but instead my gesture was taken as an F.U by me and he pointed his gun at me as he pulled up next to me.

Since then I don't even bother with those cagers in a city that has a crooked law enforcement system.

This is funny for all the wrong reasons. The end of the news piece asks us to contact the police if we know the driver's identity. The cops in this case knew exactly who the guy was within minutes of arriving at the scene (his plates were also recorded). Both the victim and I followed up with the police multiple times to find out if they'd picked him up. I never got a single callback. Not one. Dude gets beat on, the cops know who the guy is, and nothing happens. What bullshit. Hard truth - if you are gonna get the crap beat out of you, the cops will do jack even if you have film, so you'd better get a few swings in yourself.

Exactly. There is a "clean" image of the driver and the cops have make/model and license plate of the car. That's more than 99.99% of "hit and runs" I've investigated. Even without the cops I could have that driver located in under an hour.
