Helmets Wanted: old, cracked, discarded... or new, shiny, etc

Yes, old helmets that you wouldn't want to use can still entertain and educate the public this Saturday June 20th...

East Side Chamber of Commerce is having a Community Day Street Fair eastsidechamber.net Saturday at 105th and Ewing 10am-8pm...  Intelligentsia Cup and South Chicago Velodrome Association have a booth and a melon-smashing device that kids love to see "in action"...  We can use helmets that are cracked, as long as they're not totally blown apart. *see photos below

You can drop off helmets at the site (tell us to expect you and how many helmets) or drop off at 1310 N. Clybourn (Yojimbo's Garage) Friday from 2-7pm or contact me to arrange another time or possible pick up.

If you have a new/like new helmet you want to donate to a good cause/local NFP- we can help with that too!  We have two high school programs that start next week and estimate about 30 kids are going to need helmets.  We're looking for donations before purchases.  If you have a lightly-used or new helmet sitting in your closet collecting dust, or if you work for a bike shop or supplier/manufacturer who would like to make a donation- please consider contacting SCVA.

We can use more people to help attend the booth on Saturday and also plan on having work days at the track this weekend and we have other needs we're putting out to the community this week: Want List

I have a collection of old helmets that are my "helmets that saved a head" display which hasn't seen the light of day in several years.  You wouldn't want to wear them, but if you want used helmets that have already been in a crash, I can bring them to Marcus on Friday.  I think there are 8 helmets - maybe more.

Thanks Kathy!  I was thinking about your collection the other day...  And I've been wanting to see you and say "hi".  I'd be happy to swing up to your place to pick them up but you're welcome to come by as well.  Thanks :)

I didn't list a total quantity but we'd like to have 20+ helmets available assuring at least 1 demo every 30 minutes of the fair.  We're about half way there.

Thank you.  -Marcus  1-872-Luv-SCVA  [588-7282]
