Bike recs needed: Specialized Sirrus Sport, Cannondale Quick, or Giant Escape?

I looking for a new bike and was wondering if anyone had opinions on these three models. I know there are multiple variations within each model, so any insight would be appreciated.

I want a good all-around bike for:

- year-round commute (14-20 miles/day)

- running errands, carrying a load on a rack or pulling a trailer

- occasional long, even multi-day, rides

Something durable, but nimble too. Speed is not much of a concern for me. No off-road rides, except the occasional crushed gravel trail. Flat handle bars.

I expect to add a rack, fenders, maybe a chain guard

When I have friends looking for new bikes, I'll try to get them to try out three different bikes from different shops before making a decision. It sounds like you've picked out some solid bikes that will fit your needs, so I'd head out and ride them if you haven't already.

The only specific advice I'd give on components would be to consider a model with a carbon fork as it'll be a little more forgiving than an aluminum one. In the case of the Specialized, the model above the Sirrus Sport gets the fork upgrade.

The standard "what bike should I buy?" reply:  Ride all three and buy the one that makes you feel most like a kid.  They should all be adequate for what you're asking, but multi-day rides might be a bit of a stretch.

I just dove in and got the Sirrus Elite. I liked the carbon fork.

Congrats Jeff! My girlfriend has a Sirrus Elite and it's been nothing but a great bike. Her longest ride on it was from Chicago to Canada so multi-day outings are certainly possible.
