Didn't you ride a disc brake Jamis touring style bike?

Some would consider that their ideal do it all bike.

What made you decide to move on from that?

I did and still do. It is an awesome bike and have been with me through many miles and many tours and pulling trailers.

To be honest, I just felt like a change, I guess, and that I can go with single-speed on the Wolverine (or Fisticuff)

Nothing wrong with trying something new and adding flexibility/utility.
