The Chainlink

I will in Chicago from 13th to 19th June and would like to hire a 700 tourer with rack and possibly disc brakes, plus puncture tool kit/pump and lights. I can bring saddle/spds.

Bike Rentals....I think I'm making a solid guess you're coming from the UK.  This side of the Atlantic we're stuck on using the term "Rental".  Your page says you need a 54CM frame.  I have 58CM tourers, but you should head to a shop to hire your bicycle.  If you're looking for Wright architecture you'll need to get to Oak Park.  For Mies Van der Rohe Chicago is a good bet, so unless your hotel is in Oak Park you'll be renting a bike in the city.

I suppose you know about our DIVVY program?  They have lights built in.

I also have a Dahon folder which is compatible with almost anyone....but you'd have to pay a daily rate and sign a release promising to reimburse me for loss or damage.

Cycle Bike Shop at 1465 S. Michigan does rentals of road bikes and city bikes for good rates.  The owner also used to lead bike tours all over the world, China, Brazil, and Cuba! Shop number is 312-987-1080

You may be better off bringing your own bike with you.  I'm under the impression bike rental is pretty pricy, especially or something other than the cruisers which makes up the majority off the rental fleets.

Hi Steve,

This is great. So glad to hear you will be coming to Chicago in June. We are also happy to help if you need recommended routes and if you would like people to join you on your tour. You may also want to meet up with some Chainlinkers for a pint or an organized ride. I'm adding your request to this week's newsletter to see if there is someone out there that would be up for lending you a bike.

I noticed quite a bit of information was removed from your post - do you want to add it back to help people that respond? Good luck!
