Heh, I just read that article and was about to post it. The technical and financial problems can be dealt with. It's these damn Chicago winter's that stop me cold. December wasn't so bad but January has been pretty tough. I took some solace by casting blame upon Lisa. But I'm getting tired of that, too. I guess our situation is not as dire as the sea turtles in Madagascar. I'm beginning to feel the effects of cabin fever. Depression and delirium will soon follow. That's the standard prognosis for me, this time of year. Where's climate change when I need it?

I managed to ride to work three times this week, so I've already surpassed my mileage from January 2014. The ride home Thursday was a bit nerve-wracking though. Thank goodness for the diligence of the Chicago Park District, who had plowed and salted the LFT. That got me off the streets for about a third of my commute.

Hmmm, thanks Skip, that's very encouraging.

I put on my trusty studded tires early last month hoping that would get me motivated. Most of my ride is along the LFT, but between Oak Street and Grand, it can get treacherous. I'm still working on alternate routes along that stretch. At least the days are getting longer now, which helps some, too.

Winter riding is what separates the hard core from the dilettantes. I can feel my body reverting back to flab and my frame of mind descending back into darkness. Not good, not good.
