The Chainlink

I just sent this via a comment form at JewelOsco.com:

I was distraught to realize that your "Must Buy 3" sale on soft drinks discriminates against those of us who walk to or ride our bikes to your store. Three twelve packs of soda is about all I can carry. Am I supposed to make a special trip just to buy Coke and then come back to buy the rest of my groceries?

Please let me know who was responsible for this policy and how I may contact them.

Thank you,
Tony Adams

Now I don't actually buy very much soda, but this sort of thing seems so misguided and car-centric that I felt obligated to try to shed some light on the problem.

"Must buy 3 Sale !" Wow, that's much better than when it was "Must buy 5 Sale !" Load your pick-up truck, jam it in your car's trunk, slide it in your Suvs! These sales ARE car-centric and misguided but this is what the major soda companies want. High volume turnover sales. I don't like these sales either and it is hard to transport these sales items home by bicycle, but I think the major soda companies (Coke) etc., are responsible for these policies and any complaints should be aimed at them. Maybe it's for the best, soda should not be over-indulged. I drink soda in moderation but I do also like to save money and stock up on it but there rarely are soft drink sales anymore except the type you have described. Complain to Coke!

You're going to need a bigger bike.

Memory is so weird! I do not recall Batman appearing in Jaws at all!
