The Chainlink

At approximately 1600 hrs, today (29 Oct 2014), I was riding Southwest on Archer Avenue west of Ashland Avenue, when CTA bus #1732 (Run #6255) sped by me (WAAAAAAAY closer than the 3 feet clearance required by law) and cut me off just before the construction on the I-55 turn-off (there is no bus stop there).
I went around him (on the left, because he left me absolutely no room on the right side) and waited for the light to change.
He did this 4 more times, and then reached out to grab my helmet as the bus was in motion as he swerved to hit me at the Damen intersection.
I finally asked him what his problem was and he stated, "Get out of my way or I'll kick your ass."
There is quite a few more things that were said after that. I will keep that for a report.
However, I need to know what THAT procedure is.
Does anyone know what to do (other than call CTA's number....1-773-925-2500...)

I've had pretty good luck sending emails to CTA about problems like this.  Here's the contact form.

Damn Beast, glad you lived to tell the tale.

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread - please keep us posted on your progress.

Same. My comment was positive but I got a seemingly-personalized response.

Man, how dangerous would it be for all of us if bus drivers start talking around the water cooler about how much they hate bikes and how tough they bully us on the road.

If you have the details please push hard so instead they say 'don't mess with bikes. Those people know the system and will make it hard in you do'

Any satisfaction Beast or did you feel like you were screaming into the wind?

I would have called the police and had them come out, I would have also filed a report to the CTA also.
