Description

Join us this Sunday Oct. 5 for a genuinely RURAL ride on The Glacial Drumlin Trail and on country backroads leading to the grand metropolises of London and Cambridge. We start the morning at the Lake Mills train depot and trailhead with complimentary coffee, tea and fresh-baked scones, and a hearty round of "God Save the Queen." We then make our way through London and then luncheon in Cambridge at the cafe-bike shop, CamRock Cafe & Sport recently featured in The Wall Street Journal. Camrock offers great coffee and food and more than 100 craft beers.

Lake Mills, Wis. is off I-94 (exit 259), 30 minutes east of Madison, 50 minutes west of Milwaukee, and a couple of hours NW of Chicago.

So, pull out that trusty British steed (or other vintage steel) from the shed for a wonderful day awheel. More info here---BicyclingBackwards.com

Thank you, Alan, not only for attending the ride, as usual, but in being such a good sport and serving as unofficial "official photographer" of the event. I always enjoy your pictures and videos of us coming through the "rough stuff" and through the tunnel. You bring a lot to the ride, and you're always a person I can count on. A ride, after all, is only as good as the people on it, and you're a GREAT cycling companion. Besides, you brought enormous apple fritters with you!

For those who weren't able to make this ride, do join us next year for the 6th Annual. It's always the first Sunday of October, rain or shine (and, at the risk of jinxing ourselves, we've never really had rain).

My pictures from yesterday's ride in & around Lake Mills, WI ...

Noting, in particular the three short videos showing riders emerging from the long grass in Korth Park, alongside Rock Lake, and passing through the tunnel a short distance from there on the Glacial Drumlin trail ...

 - a great time was had by one and all, in pretty good (all dry) weather considering the time of year and the rain over the days leading up to the event!

Alan: Note that it wasn't the ride which did you in, but the return home. Moral of the story --- and it's good for all of us --- keep riding and never go home!

And that picture was taken two years ago, when I really messed up my ankle on getting home Sunday and unloading my truck!
