This is the strangest thread ever. We are asked to go to court when we can but are not told: 1) when; 2) where, etc.

The Court Advocates have been told not to discuss or give away information. This is from the 18th District. I asked, in another district (17th) and the court advocates there told me they never heard of such a thing.

So the only information is what's posted here by those not involved in the Court Advocate process.

If you’re interested there’s also an automated system available that you can call to get updates on the court case info with regards to location, date and time. The number is 877-846-3445. Individuals calling this number can simply enter the offender's Identification Record number (if known) or name of defendent, and receive court location, date and time. In addition, the automated system gives the option for individuals to enter their phone number to receive updated court information.

Just a reminder, to bump this up to the current list....

The next court appearance of Ryne Sanhamel in the alleged killing of Bobby Cann is this coming Thursday, September 4th, at 10:00 AM in courtroom 301 with Judge Hooks presiding. Ryne Sanhamel, while allegedly driving drunk with an alleged Blood-Alcohol level of .127 allegedly drove into and allegedly killed cyclist Bobby Cann. All this happened over a year ago and we don't want it forgotten.

This is at the Cook County Criminal Court building at 26th and California.

There's another way to be updated: https://www.vinelink.com/vinelink/initMap.do allows you to get information on a court case by email notice or phone calls. You need to search by state, then Cook County, and then enter the name a defendant with an ongoing trial. Use the "VINE Court" tab to do the search.

Bob-- when you've gone, what did you do with your cell phone? Have you had any problems taking any other items in?

Bob,

There are a lot of people putting in time on this. The notification list that Jason sends info out to has reportedly hundreds of names. Active Trans, which historically has tended to be funding driven in terms of what it devotes resources to has come up with a structured, long term approach to helping assure there is justice in these cases. I think it would be nice if you could refrain from posting regular demeaning comments directed at those who choose to participate in this process. If, in all this time, you had even attended one hearing, it would not look quite so ridiculous that you sit behind your keyboard and post little jabs at those who are in many cases missing work and traveling considerable distances to be part of this process.

Nice work h'. Maybe when they get the moderator functionality one of their first jobs is to moderate your immature comments. Alex, your +1 is unhelpful and you too are lumped in here.

I appreciate that Bob has posted here. I also appreciate that I don't have to attend the hearings to keep updated. For the record, I have not attended a single courtroom session. Does that make me unhelpful or disinterested? And, who says that Active Trans is the owner of any plan?

So true. Somehow I don't think that Bob is going stop demanding that we update him on every word said during the hearings, no matter how many reasonable requests you make.

You can continue to sign the petition if you haven't already. Signatures to the petition will still continue to be forwarded to Anita Alverez, the Cook County District Attorney.

A refresher for those who may be forgetting or aren't aware of this:

The death of Bobby Cann shook Chicago's bicycling community to its core. On a May 29th 2013 at around 6:35 p.m., Cann was struck and killed by Ryne San Hamel who was allegedly driving his Mercedes sedan 20 miles per hour over the speed limit. San Hamel was charged with driving under the influence, having an alleged blood alcohol content of .127, well over the legal limit. There was immediate wide spread outrage at the driver, heartfelt empathy for Cann's family and many friends, and fear among regular city cyclists. A temporary memorial popped up at the site of the crash, which occurred outside of iconic Chicago bike shop Yojimbo's Garage. In October, Clybourn Avenue was named Honorary Bobby Cann Way.
