The Chainlink

September has arrived and there are many centuries and close to centuries coming up in the next six weeks or so.  Some I know about:  Perimeter Ride, North Shore Century, Apple Cider Century.  Who is planning to ride these?  What other organized rides are you planning to ride? Are you planning any self-supported stuff?

So post about your rides and if you are looking for company on any of them, post that here, too!

A lot of the rides folks have mentioned below are annual events, so I am going to list them here, but with this year's dates:

Past:  Two Rivers Century August 3, 2014

Four Star Bike and Chow, September 7, 2014

Harmon Hundred, September 7, 2014

Wabash County Dam to Dam, September 14, 2014

North Shore Century, September 21, 2014

Apple Cider Century, September 28, 2014

Pumpkin Pie Ride, October 5, 2014

Hilly Hundred Weekend, October 10-12, 2014

Leaving in a few minutes to go do the lake front trail, twice - a bit more than 70 miles.  If anyone sees a rider panting and dying just off the path please do stop and make sure I'm ok.  Thank you so much.

Don't forget the 62 mile route in Four Star Bike & Chow - happening on Sunday 9/7.

Don't know how I forgot Four Star!  Although I am only riding--with my niece--the 43 mile route since our ride to and from the start will be about 7 miles each way. :-)

Lisa, Doing the North Shore Century, love to ride part of the way with a Chainlinker or two! Nancy

Unfortunately I have a conflict that day that I cannot get out of, so no NSC for me this year.  I guarantee there are a bunch of Chainlinkers who will be doing it though!

I think I am going to at least start the Perimeter Ride.  I know I will not finish it, but will see how far I can get before it gets close to my bedtime.

I'm riding Four Star Bike & Chow (62 miles). Maybe I'll see some of you there?

I was visiting friends this weekend and working on my car there, but the town of Wabash, Indiana is really trying to turn the local economy/downtown around and has a Century ride that's not too hilly.  It's usually a 3.5 hour drive for me to get down there.

I'll think about it next year; there are a lot of bike markings on the rural highways around, too.

This year I may still do a GAP/C&O Canal trip from Pittsburgh to DC since it's so easy using Amtrak, but that will be in mid-October at the earliest to avoid the heat and catch the fall colors.

That ride in Wabash County does look good, and I love the quotes under the photos when you scroll down.  Will have to try to keep that on the radar and plan for it next year.

Going to do the Bike & Chow with my wife and son (just a short route, maybe 12 miles), then the North Shore with my cousin, probably 62 miles.

Did 50 humid miles at the Two Rivers Century last month -- a wonderfully scenic ride that's going to be an annual event for me.

Bike and Chow 62

North Shore Century 100

AFFF Metric Century 62 (Richmond IL) HILLS!!

Debating on the Apple Cider but have wanted to do this one for a while now. HMMMMMM...

I'll (hopefully) be doing my first century at the North Shore, along with some buddies from the neighborhood.

I have done Apple Cider Century before (so beautiful) and after two years of conflicts will finally be able to join the Perimeter Ride this year. Its going to be awesome! Hopefully there will be lots of good company....
