I just noticed that Intelligentsia has stopped giving a 15% discount for cyclists.  Not a big deal, but I wonder why.

Not sure about the discount, but the owner of Intelligentsia is a major supporter of bicycling in Illinois. He rides and races himself and Intelligentsia is the title sponsor of the Prairie State Cycling Series Intelligentsia Cup. I was also a sponsor of the PSCS and chatted with him a few times at races and will vouch for him and Intelligentsia. Good people.

Did you ask specifically?  I have a feeling it's one of those you have to ask for the discount.  I had my helmet in hand, but they didn't automatically give it to me.  I was too embarassed to ask so I really don't know.

So no more discount but free drink tokens. Sounds fair.

Yes, I did specifically ask, as I always do.  I was told that they don't honor that discount anymore.  But they did give me a couple of tokens for free drinks, which was a nice gesture.

Maybe because there are SO many bikers coming in. That would be a good thing.

Yes.   Does anyone have a current list of all the restaurants in the city that offer discounts for cyclists?

Hey Jeff,

My friend sent me the link to this thread...Sorry for the trouble.Which store did you get denied? We've had this discount going for over a year and I didn't know of any plans to stop it, so I'm not sure why they told you it doesn't exist.

As mentioned, we're all about some cycling (myself included) and there's no reason we'd stop this discount. We'll get to the bottom of it and I'll let you know when we've got it re-implemented.

Feel free to post in this thread, or if you don't want to publicly shame them, you can PM me and we'll get it sorted.

Matt,

Thanks for clarifying!

I smell a publcity stunt here.  Nice try, "Jeff" and "Matt."

;-)

Just to follow up on this, we've talked to the staff at that location and the cyclist discount is back (and at all our locations).

Thanks, Matt. I knew we could count on Intelligentsia. Many thanks to Doug and all of you for supporting bicycling in Illinois as well as your sponsorship of the Prairie State Cycling Series.

Yes, thank you.  I went to Loop location yesterday and received the discount.  Intelligensia has the best coffee in town!
