The Chainlink

I think it would be fun to assemble a picture/video archive representing movie-stars, musicians, politicians, etc ... on a BIKE. My pick is from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969). Pictured here is Paul Newman and Katharine Ross. One of the great classic scenes of Hollywood. Any more contributions to this thread are welcomed.

Is Lebron's seat a little low?  Ever since I saw a video of him riding in Miami Critical Mass I have been a fan, except when he plays against the locals.

Say what you will about his career choices (and poor PR decisions), but LeBron James bikes (biked) to work.

Looks like a one way street.

Is he salmoning, or is the photo reversed? (In which case, he might just be too far over, to accommodate the photographer.)

Rahm's bike looks pretty legit in this picture. Can anyone tell what he's riding?

I believe this photo was taken when he visited a Youth worksite. The kids had re-built the bike.

Zack Attack on the velodrome

Interesting.... I was watching some rebalancers examine a bike that had been marked in need of repair while I was waiting for a bus, and one of them (a fairly young woman) got on and tried to ride but didn't appear to know how to ride a bike. This explains it for me....

About 120 of the students will continue to work throughout the school year in various internships, including Alta Bicycle Share, where 20 students will be hired to work as Divvy bike share mechanics and system rebalancers.

I am amazed that there are people out there in this day and age that never learned to ride a bike.   I do run into people, occasionally, who never learned to swim though.

I don't understand the cottered crank and a quill stem on a bike with disc brakes. It's a Schwinn frame.  There are no cables along the top bar so the bike has to have a rear disc brake.  I can't see any decals...was this a custom job?

It's not a cottered crank.  It is a square-taper that is styled and shaped like a cottered crank for that "look."

If you zoom up on the photo you can see that while it looks like a cottered crank there is, in fact, no cotter pin there.

The mystery deepens...

You don't need a cable on the top tube to have a disc brake, in fact there is a cable running along the chain stay on the left side of the bike so a disc, drum or roller brake is very likely.  It also has an american bottom bracket adapted to a BSA which makes me think it is a rebuilt Chicago Schwinn.

Indeed...a roller brake sounds likely....I think we're on the right track!  So it's a rebuild with a new front fork.  I wonder where Rahm has been shopping?
