Description

Buckle up kids! It's time to check out BuckleDown Brewing in Lyons.

We'll take the 8:30am Rock Island Metra out to Joliet. From there we'll take the I&M Canal and Centennial Trails with our first stop for lunch at the Tap House Grill in Lemont which has an excellent beer list. Stop at Imperial Oak for their grand opening. Then it's on to BuckleDown Brewing in Lyons.

If you've had enough then it's a short 1.5 miles to the Brookfield Metra Station. Or if you're itching for more then it's 16 additional miles to Revolution's Tap Room on Kedzie or just ride all the way home.

Route to Buckledown

BuckleDown to Revolution Tap Room (route to Revolution is approximate - actual route will have some minor deviations however we will ride past the Riverside Metra station on BNSF line for those taking Metra home)

As always please bring:

-water

-layers

-lock

-bungee for Metra

-extra tube and tools to fix a flat

Minimum average speed is 12 mph

This ride is approximately 50% trail and 50% public streets. Please consume responsibly as this ride will be mixed with vehicular traffic on some portions.

Imperial Oak ETA is 2pm. You can always message me your number if you'd like me to text you when we leave Tap House Grill. It'll be an hour or so ride from there.

what time you plan to be at Imperial Oak?

Gino's Steak Truck will be at Buckledown the day of our ride. Kind of wish it was Pierogi Wagon day but no complaints regardless!

Let the food truck parade commence. We know you're hungry... fight it with food trucks at our taproom:

Sat. 5/17 12pm-8pm: Pierogi Wagon
Fri 5/23: Chicago Pizza Boss
Sat 5/24: Two Soldiers and a Marine BBQ
Sat 5/31: Gino's Steak Truck

I think its pretty clear that its selling beer for at-home consumption or else they wouldn't mention "samples". Not worth it, IMHO.

I'd say ask if we can consume on premises. After 40 miles and 3 previous stops I wouldn't be a fan of riding back another 12 miles with a full growler or beer that I can easily get at most liquor stores.

Comment by Jared on April 10, 2014 at 2:32pm

Sell beer to be consumed on the premises, or beer in bottles to be consumed elsewhere?

Comment by daWillinChi on April 10, 2014 at 2:23pm

Ask them if they fill outside growlers
