Does anyone know if the North Branch Trail (at Devon) is flooded?

It's no longer flooded at Devon. The North Branch Trail is completely ridable all the way up to the gardens.
Thanks, Peter.  It was gorgeous.

With talk of trail conditions and how winter has destroyed them, I thought I would wake up this thread. Last time I checked, the trail is not very ridable. Hopefully some melting will help clear it up this week.

I wouldn't count on this trail being fully clear until late April.  There are many sections that are almost always in shade and they take a long time to melt, even with warm weather.

Even the areas that aren't in shade are not rideable. I cross the trail driving the Edens Expressway just north of Lake St.  You can see a ton of bumpy ice/snow on the trail.

It's too bad, because this is my way of commuting to work...

Last week it was suitable for snowshoeing.  I think it'll be a while.

It's probably suitable for snowshoeing today.  #damnyoupolarvortex  I wanna ride my roadbike.

Rode past the entrance to NBT at Glenview Rd. and then later at Willow - nothing but ice.

Sticking to the streets...

I'd consider that a realistic estimate for any local trail in a wooded area.

I attempted to ride the trail today. I rode from the entrance on Devon and Milwaukee to Touhy. It was mostly clear with a few icy patches. I think another few warm days and it may be completely melted.

As a bonus I got to see about 15 deer. This time of the year, with no foliage, they are very visible.

That is good to hear. Today is supposed to be a nice day, so hopefully that will put a dent into some of the remaining ice. I might go explore tomorrow with my hybrid bike and see how it is.

Rode it today from the start at Devon and Caldwell to Glenview Rd. It was clear with very limited snow in a few places. I consider it clear for any and all bikes
