What does everyone do for a living?

I work at a construction company on Ashland and Armitage as a project administrator - where swearing is a way of life, we drink too much coffee, work too hard, and party harder. I also do theatre work, mostly in management, and writing.

Mmm.

This thread is fascinating!  Please allow me to contribute to the randomness.  I resigned from teaching (CPS, special ed) this summer.  I own a business that makes mermaid tails little girls can wear in the bathtub.  Yes, really.

Thankfully no. I live in a cool warehouse building with lots of windows. But if you want to see the furniture I paint, it's in space 1461 or Here

You live in the mart?:))  I'll be at 1871 tonight for a Chicago B Corp mixer.  B Corps = mission-driven companies.

I custom paint furniture for interior designers through a Merchandise Mart showroom and spend most of my spare time volunteering for Chicago Honey Co-op. Sadly, my commute is only about 50 feet so not as much biking as I would like.

Mermaid tails??? Where were you when I was a child???

What is the name of your business? I have some friends with daughters who might be of the age to appreciate having a mermaid's tail.

I have 2 young daughters, and this would make their week.  Can you please shoot me the name of your business?  Perhaps a link or something?

As for me, I run various Financial systems and policies for a media agency.  Most of my time is spent working on mobility for our employees.

So much cool stuff in this thread. Sydney's furniture is awesome! Mermaid tails, what the...i need one now!

Unfortunately I'm a bit more staid - another Chainlinker in the legal industry.  I'm a patent attorney with a biomedical engineering background.  My current practice focuses on pharmaceutical patent litigation.  If you see a drug commercial on TV, I'm probably involved in a patent litigation involving that drug.

I write, design, photograph and shoot video, so I can publish: a magazine, a couple of websites, a few email newsletters, videos and webinars for a union.

wow this is both amazingly incredible and terrifying.

I am a lawyer who represents injured people in workers' compensation cases. When I am not doing that or riding my bike I am playing disc golf or playing a harmonica. With a now empty nest there is more time for all of the above.

I have been awed by the Divvy crews - you guys should make a promo video and set it to some Bourne Identity music or something.

Divvy: currently rebalancing bikes around the city out of a big blue Mercedes Sprinter van late weekend nights.  Earlier this year, assisted in station deployments by driving a huge-azz flatbed truck to the installation site with the station strapped to the bed.  Really, considering that I've been car-free since 2003, it's almost ridiculous the amount of driving I've done in the past six months in the service of getting bike sharing out in Chicago.  I basically hate driving, but I'm weirdly good at it.  Go figure.

Video journalist and rock climbing instructor.  And someone that wants to check out the mermaid tail biz. And help out with the Bourne Identity Divvy promo.

LOL- my daughter wanted one when she was three, the rest is history. Our site is www.applejackapparel.com. (It really needs updating, which is also my job...)  They actually make great gifts for cold weather :)
