The Chainlink

Some of my colleagues in Minneapolis are the organizers behind 30 Days of Biking. It's coming up again in April and they are encouraging people to register and commit to biking every day in April.

I was confused last year, because I kept waiting for instructions. The scoop is - register and make your commitment, then if you tweet use the #30daysofbiking hashtag to talk about your participating.

That's it. I've signed up and will be back on my bike making this happen for myself.

Care to join?

Hi Leah, oh, good - I just searched to see if anyone had posted this year - I'm pledged again and would love to do a ride if you organize it. I already ride daily, but it's fun to join others who do too (and I love that they use "joyful"... sometimes not how I feel or read on here - heh.)

Pledge here, Chainlinkers!

I'll look forward to an event posting. Oh, here's a link to their cute video, too.

I totally forgot that I had signed up for this! However, I rode the bike to work today, so I'm off to a good start.

I didn't see a lot of Chicagoans on the website at a quick glance - seems like a wide reach, though.

Just joined #30daysofbiking because of this thread.  Looks like some companies are offering participants bikey discounts:

I rarely use Twitter, so some guidance from any Twitterati here would be appreciated.  I'm seeing all kinds of variation in the hashtag: #30DOB, #30daysofbiking, #30 Days of Biking, etc.  Is Twitter smart enough to figure out that all these are the same, or is there one "official" hashtag we should be using to connect with the pledged group?

In years past it was #30daysofbiking, but I took a look today and it seems people are using #30dob this time, too. I just tweeted to ask... will let you know. I do know there can't be spaces. Since I am so not a Twitterati, this month will turn into #30daysoftwitterlearning for me.

Thanks for checking this for us, Sarah!

Looks like we can pick. I like shorter but am one for details, so I'm going with the whole thing.

I don't use Twitter, but I am all-in for the biking every day in April.

Sorry I disappeared for a couple days. Work took be to NYC where I couldn't convince anyone to let me borrow a bike to get a ride in on day one.

You can use the shorter hashtag #30DOB to save space in your tweets. But you can also talk about your daily (or as many days as possible) riding on any other website you frequent - like The Chainlink!

I'm totally up for helping organize a fun group ride later in the month - maybe a mid-point ride on the 14th?

14th is a sunday, woo hoo.  I'm in.

The Chicago, Minneapolis and Milwaukee crews could meet up in Madison WI (Seems like a good half way type point) or somewhere's like that maybe.

We are celebrating #30DOB at www.drivelesslivemore.com

Track a roundtrip bike trip every day in April and you'll be eligible to win a bike tour for two from Bike & Roll, plus a tune-up and drivetrain clean from their new Hyde Park shop.

(We specify a round trip due to system constraints, in order to truly honor the spirit of #30DOB.  So round trip can really mean anything, just log it as an out and back, or add a destination in the middle of point A and B, if you only riding one way that day.)

Drive Less Live More is a multimodal trip tracking and incentive platform, sign up is free, and every month we feature three new prizes which our users can win by tracking their trips on the site.
