Presentations and demos at Saturday's Chicago Bike Swap! [88/100]

Hey folks,

The presentation schedule and demo info for Saturday's swap is posted-- check it out!

http://chicagobikeswap.org/presentations-demos/

Many thanks to all who've helped put things together, from participants to organizers/facilitators (you know who you are :-)  )

This year we have a lot more space, and will be able to leverage it into lots more fun.

Indoor Bike Polo- how cool is that?

Also, while I've got you....  although we expect 2000+ visitors, it's almost become kind of a superstition thingy for me to see us break 100 on the chainlink RSVPs for the swap.... help me sleep easily Friday night by checking in as "attending" here if you haven't already:

(I'm going to add the current number of positive RSVPs to the subject line and update frequently)

See you there!

Cool,

So someone needs to wangle up a video camera.  Who knows someone with a decent rig and a tripod?

A sound system would be a plus.

Willow - Any chance you'll have any reflective vests like the ones you offered previously?

Kick-ass!

I plan to make a "suggested donation" sign or two for the Bike WInter table for stickers and such (we have very few left of 2013's but anyone who needs one should be able to get it.)

Here's some stuff I made that will be at the Bike Winter table along with fleece goodies, Bike Winter zines, and I'm not sure what else:

2-1/4" bottle openers:

1-1/4" buttons:

1-1/4" reflective buttons:

1-1/4" magnets:

2-1/4" magnets:

2-1/4" mirrors:

Quantities are limited (first come, first serve) and some are (charmingly?) crooked. Donations to Bike Winter are gladly accepted!

I will be tabling at Chicago Zine Fest so I won't see y'all at the swap meet. If you need back issues of The Derailleur, check out the Illinois Bike Attorneys table at the swap.

xoxo

Haddon, if you do want to take on making this happen, the same amplifier (iPod ready) that the Racketeers used will still be available. I'd call it for 12:45. I can add something to the presentation page on the Bike Swap site if you like but It's too late for day-of signage.

Haddon, just make sure that The Racketeers are done and off the polo floor before you take it over pretty please.

Thanks

Shar (Racketeer)

Shar,

Would the Rackateers be willing to do second shift as crowd rousers for 'the shake'? You'll be in the shoot, how about you fit this at the end of your routine and one of you can be that first person in the video with a bike helmet on?

ALL FOR NOTHING UNLESS SOMEONE COMES UP WITH A VIDEO CAMERA, - more people will read this later so if you are now reading this and have a decent rig and nominal edit skills please say something.

Also - Unless I get to buy a willow button i'm sorry to say I'll have to cancel the entire event outright.

I suggested "calling it" for 12:45 but I in no way meant to imply that anyone would interrupt the Racketeer's performance, which might not be finished-- I can not imagine that anyone who wanted to participate would not already be watching the racketeers.

Looks like we'll be topping out around 90 positive RSVPs.  Should we extend the RSVP deadline another week?

C'mon folks--you know you are going.  This isn't some public radio fundraising drive where you wait till the end to see if the give-aways are going to get any better.  h' needs to see 100 RSVPs.

STILL LOOKING FOR A VIDEO CAMERA.

Harlem shake, is there one taker? Just one?

those look awesome.

I have a small camera that does video, but I think only 640x480 max, if that....
