I rode to my class at the Old Town School last night and got home about 15 minutes before the skies opened. Today may be a better day for xc skiing.

Sadly - yes! Woot woot adrenaline with the cars sliding. Left real EARLY to avoid insanities, but still too many cars slipping and sliding round.

Have you moved from Chicago to some southern place?  Last big snow indeed . . . .

Last big snow today!  Everybody check your cabinets and make sure you're well stocked on little umbrellas to go in your tropical drinks, 'cuz you'll be needing them before you know it!

No bike today. But only because I'm heading out of town from work.

Have fun, CMassers.

the northside LFT was a thing of beauty this morning. from oak street all the way up to ardmore was plowed and salted. way to go chicago park district! most people must have assumed the worst because i only saw a total of 5 southbound riders as i rode north up the trail, that might be the lowest total i've seen all season, even including that ridiculous festival of rutted ice we LFT riders were treated to a couple of weeks ago.

Milwaukee and Lawrence were completely clear, even the bike lanes on Lawrence.  Well done Chicago!

Side streets were a mess. The Kinzie bike lane was clear, and had an uncharacteristically appropriate amount of salt on it. Well done CDOT and/or Streets and Sanitation!

I've found aside from the two spots where the lake creates ice on the path, the LFT  is pretty quickly plowed and salted.  In fact, it's usually done way before the side streets are done in hyde park.   I realize Streets and San have much more to cover but it'd be nice if they cleaned the streets with the alacrity of the park district.

Very nice video work, Gene!  The Christmas music gave me a pleasant two-month-ago flashback.  I never knew YouTube had an editing function on site--I'll have to try it.

After downloading your videos (I had mutiple clips to download) go to the editor here: http://www.youtube.com/editor and then you can insert multiple clips into one video, insert transissions, add music and do some other nifty things; all this was impossible, until I found out to get to the editor. Happy videoing, Ms. Snow.
