I just got word that Brandon Bernier died yesterday in a car crash in SF.

He was a friend of many here in Chicago's cycling scene, and he will forever be missed.

He was a good Guy.

Really sad. I had only met him a few times, but every time I talked to him I thought to myself, "man, I gotta hang out with this guy more."

When I rode my first Chicago perimeter ride, Brandon rode next to me for a most of the final stretch on the lakefront path. We were almost at 100 miles, and I was struggling a little, but so determined to keep going. We had the best conversation and both rode way more than 100 miles by the end of the night. I'm glad to have shared that memory, and sad to read about this.

There is a bike ride that is going to happen on Friday, February 1st at 7pm beginning at Ceres Cafe inside the board of trade if anyone is interested in joining.

Ride in peace, Brandon.  Thank you for the time you have spent with me, you will be missed.

The perimeter ride was the ride I too became friends with Brandon. I saw him at another ride and recognized him by his trademark glasses so I went over to say Hi. We both ended up moving to SF around the same time a year ago--Brandon always lamented that the bike scene here was lacking, and really wanted to start up rides a la maurauders and .83.
