After training, what is the ongoing time commitment on average?

Duppie,

It's a relatively low time commitment. Operators have the phone in their possession for two week shifts, during which they are expected to return all calls within 24 hours. (All voice mails are also forwarded as texts to your email.) Call volumes vary depending on the time of year from 1-2 calls per day to 0-1 a week. Each call usually takes 5-10 minutes. Operators are expected to sign up for at least two shifts a year.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Hey all, just a little more info about becoming a Crash Support Operator

Do you care about your fellow cyclists and pedestrians? Do you want an opportunity to genuinely help another person? Can you answer a phone?

If you said yes to the questions above--we want you!

The Active Transportation Alliance Crash Support Hotline is ringing and we are training volunteers to answer the phone. This is a unique opportunity to become an expert on assisting cyclists and pedestrians after a crash.

Volunteers undergo an extensive training that will give them the tools and confidence they need to effectively answer the Crash Support Hotline. Volunteers will sign up for a two week time slot to take calls. During their scheduled time, volunteers will be issued a crash support cell phone and will be expected to return all crash calls within 24 hours.

Hey all, just bumping this up again in advance of Tuesday's training. Plenty of slots left and it's one of our most rewarding volunteer opportunities. Don't be intimidated about not knowing all the answers, we'll tell you all you need to know, and the commitments are actually very flexible, so if you're on the fence, come on out. And let me know if you have any questions. Hope to see you there!

Just saw this today and am excited to hear about the opportunity. I've been in touch with Jason but am writing here to make sure others see it.
