The Chainlink

Totally not bike related, although transportation related.  Anyone heading to mythbusters saturday night from the city?

My roommate from Ireland, is trying to figure out how to get to Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates and there is no public transit out there past the Elgin Metra, 6 miles from the venue.

Biking out there and cycling in the dark is not something he can do right now.

And the last Metra out is at 10:10 PM, way too early.

So I thought I'd see if anyone else is going that he can hitch a ride with or share a cab with.

He is about to buy a touring bike, but prob won't have it by this weekend.

Has he bought his ticket yet?  I'd be willing to split cabfare, but I haven't bought a ticket yet, so we wouldn't be sitting together unless he still needs to buy tickets.

It is likely cheaper to rent a car for a day than to take a cab out there.
Never used i-go, but that may be an alternative too?

Ryan - He did buy the ticket.  He's only here for 3 months from Ireland doing Phd work so Zip or IGO aren't options of him.  He's an awesome guy and I'm trying to get him to swing by the Tweed Ride, even without a bike on the earlier side to meet some people.

Ryan, if you buy the ticket you two could totally split a cab.

I first posted this comment on my facebook status since its not bike related (albiet the guy doesn't own a car). Facebook is offering me to pay to promote my status (apparently if I don't pay only 13 percent of my fb friends see my posts).

I must rant.....

Hmm..... not happy. I have no problem with fb making paid options for businesses and orgs, but not individual posts like ride sharing. Hopefully they will discontinue it.

I just read some articles and one said it could change the atmopshere from rich content, back to the traditional which is that the rich get to dominate the news feed.

This really strikes a cord with me since I love the idea of sharing information and what social media has done - helped level the playing field.

Them's fightin' words.

Hey Ryan,

I've already got a ticket! It was one of the P1 tickets in section C.

I'd be cool to split a cab, especially for the journey back!
