The Chainlink

Hey fellow (women) riders!

This is my first post, but I thought I'd just throw it out there: I stepped into a Marshall's the other day (the one one in the loop), and they've got a decent selection of under armor-esque gear for women. Lots of tight fitting, long sleeved shirts, snowboard apparel that isn't too bulky, and I even found some Smartwool products for super cheap (fingerless wool gloves and socks, score!).

Not sure about you boys out there. (sorry, didn't peruse your section).

If you're looking to stock up for riding in the cold, it could be a break from the sticker shock of REI. (Although I do love me some REI!)

Anyone else know of good places to shop for winter bike gear?

Anywho, enjoy the fall, and ride safe!

Part of me hates recommending this site because the more people know about it, the sooner my sizes get sold out.  But... I can't help it.  Sierratradingpost.com has lots of cheap wicking layers for winter that are made a lot cheaper if you sign up for their deal flyer email's.  If you wait for the right email (they send out various ones with diff deals), you can get stuff dirt cheap, and they are good about returns too.  I've rec'd this site a lot, but I swear I don't work for these people.

90% of my bike clothing comes from Marshall's.

Good calls on Marshall's & Sierra Trading Post!  I'll add www.campmor.com to the list.  Sometimes odd colors or leftover sizes, like the other discounters, but you can strike gold on occasion.

And welcome, Kerry, keep these good posts coming!

hm..... can i say eBay :3

Nordstroms Rack had a bunch of cycle specific Smartwool gear a year or two ago. Not sure if they get it each year...

Hey Kerry!

Thanks for the REI shout out! If you (or anyone else) are looking for some additional ideas for winter riding gear, check out our upcoming Cold Weather Cycling class: http://www.rei.com/event/46125/session/60605

Welcome to the Chainlink! Safe riding!

Steep and cheap. (http://www.steepandcheap.com) and associated site chain love (http://www.chainlove.com). It's random camping/outdoor/biking gear. What's there is totally hit and miss, but there are good deals from time to time. I think both are affiliated with Backcountry.com. I just got some gore-tex lined ski gloves at a really nice discount from their site.

Guys, OP hasn't shown up since the initial post in 24 hours now.  Was this thread an inside troll job?  Arrgghhh

Just a joke!  :)

I just found and used geartrade.com.  It's like an online thrift store for sport specific clothing and gear.  I got a practically new shower's pass rain jacket for 1/3 off.  They also have lots of bike parts too!
